Lightly tread, the footsteps go
O'er which once passed my furious foe.
On yonder ground my bed they made.
And vanquished was I, solemn and staid.
To rest upon the eternal night.
Left behind in a furious flight
Whence I, with my virgin sisters did face
The kiss of death in a contested embrace.
Suddenly like hail the bullets flew,
And with bayonet thrusts our breath withdrew.
That Satan's scavengers may pilfer and rape.
The sacraments of life to Hell they would take.
Each sullied corpse rejected by the earth,
Under which this bough they await rebirth.
Slumbering soft in a forgotten grave,
Our futures not forged, our pasts unsaved.
Riding the chariot to Heaven's green gate.
The children of God in the Garden of Fate.
Shying away from the blazing sun.
Dreaming of fields were innocent feet run.
Where all good and evil in judgement stand,
My sisters and I, walking hand in hand.
